Opa! We stayed in this hotel in 1997 and then came back this year. It was much bigger and now has two pools and a Chapel. We ate the wonderful Greek homecooked meals with fresh fish two times and we should have had more meals at the hotel. It is in a wonderful location near the village of Akrotiri. I walked through the village on my morning walks where school children were on their way to school and I passed all the small naturally organic gardens in everyone's yards. The hotel is in walking distance or very short drive to Red Beach and the wonderful fish tavernas along the water. The Akrotiri archeological site is also close by but was closed while we were there. The view of the sunsets over the Caldera with view of Thira and Oia are awesome. All the crowds go to Oia or Thira and it is nice to be on the non touristy, more authentic side of the island. We were in Greece 15 days and Kostas, the owner of Villa Mathios, made all of our arrangements all over Greece. We never had a glitch. Even when the fishing boats were blocking the entrance to the Port of Pireaus for our ferry from Paros to Athens we called Kostas and he immediately informed the car rental company who were meeting us of the dilemna and everything was fine when we arrrived late. We can't wait to go back and stay longer.
